MVS Arkwright is a Nelson 34 launch built in 1968 and used most Tuesday evenings as a training vessel. She has and will continue to be an invaluable and very respected support vessel when assisting at events like the International Festival of the Sea, Bournmouth Air Festival, Solent Swims, etc.
As a former Royal Navy launch she is a recognised and much respected vessel in the Solent.
MVS Appleby is a 24m converted Mk 1 Fleet Tender built in 1964 with a Mirlees-Blackstone dry sump engine and is used to train volunteers in the operation of coastal craft as a crew for team building. She is able to carry a crew of 17.
In addition to providing vital support operations to events such as Cowes Week and Bournemouth Air Festival. MVS Appleby sometimes crosses the Channel to show our distinctive Red Ensign in France and the Channel Isles.
MVS2 is a former Customs & Excise 6 metre Avon Searider. Powered by twin Honda 75 hp outboards, she is capable of about 40 knots and in a recent incident at the 2009 Bournemouth Air Festival was required to use her speed to good use.
MVS1 is a purpose built 4 metre Avon rib powered by a 25 hp Honda outboard. MVS1 acts as training vessel whilst also providing invaluable support at events such as Solent Swims and Pier to Pier Swims where she acts as a safety boat to the swimmers in the water and support vessel to the swims in general.
As you can see from the above, we are very proud of our vessels for the service and
support they enable us to give the local maritime community.
If you join us then you could soon be at the helm of one of the above craft whilst
also learning valuable skills, meeting new friends and taking part in a useful spare
time activity that puts something back into our community.
